Two Great Vintage Rolex Submariners Bucherer 1680

Two outstanding vintage Rolex Submariners from two different auction houses are coming up for sale next week, and we felt it to be our duty to inform you of both your options in the rare and interesting Sub game.  Let's get right into it.

Both watches are very rare and excellent buys if you're looking for a vintage Submariner.  We'd like to know, which would you choose?

Well, it depends.  Do you want a date window? If yes, then obviously the 1680.  Do you want the same watch as what McQueen wore, but with a rare signature? Then go for the 5512.  When it comes to signatures coach bags outlet, the Bucherer line is far more rare, and in our opinion, cooler.  That said, the reference 5512 is more rare than a 1680, and in our opinion a cooler watch.  Also, when you compare them side by side, you can see the 5512 has what appears to be a great coach factory store, original facade, as the hands coach factory outlet, dial, and bezel are nicely faded to a rich yellow.  The Bucherer 1680 on the other hand remains completely white and looks to be newer (which of course it is, by ten years) coach outlet, but when buying vintage, it's always nice to see some patina.  Of course, the Bucherer is expected to go considerably lower than the Tiffany Sub, so you have to consider that as well.

So Which To Buy?

Option 1: Vintage Submariner Reference 1680 Retailed by Bucherer

Your second awesome vintage Sub option is very much the same, yet completely different.  It is a 4-line reference 5512 Submariner (which happens to be the same as what McQueen wore).  The 5512 is a fairly rare, chronometer certified version of the common 5513 Submariner, both of which have no date.  This particular one happens to be signed by Tiffany & Co., which while not all that rare to find on a Rolex, is pretty uncommon to see on a 5512.  Pre-sale estimates are $8000-$12000.  More details here via Patrizzi & Co.

Ok so what makes it cool? First, it's a vintage Sub.  Second coach factory outlet, it's a 1680 which is the first reference Sub to have a date window.  Third, and most importantly cheap coach bags, it was retailed and signed by famed Swiss retailer Bucherer.  You see Rollies signed by Tiffany & Co. fairly often, but rarely do you see one bearing the Bucherer signature.  A very cool watch and one you will likely not see any of your friends wearing.  Pre-sale estimates are $5000-$8000 and it will be sold without reserve.  More details here via Antiquorum.
